Safety Concerns

Traffic / Safety

Speed limit is 5 miles per hour on school grounds.  Always obey and respect the duty teachers.  Please do not leave vehicles unattended in the drop off lanes.  We have a small parking lot; if there are no free parking spaces please park on the streets.

Pedestrian Safety

Use the safest route to school. When crossing streets, always use the assistance of the Crossing Guards. If bothered by strangers, students should immediately report the incident to the principal, a teacher, or any staff member.  Please note that it is very important to not let your child out of the car to walk across Morris. We want all of our students safe. Please do your part to keep our students from harm.

Bicycles / Scooters

Bikes and Scooters should be walked onto school grounds at all times. Children should always wear a helmet when riding a bike. We have a zero tolerance for riding skateboards on campus. Skateboards ridden on campus will be confiscated and a parent or guardian will have to make arrangements with the principal for the return of the skateboard. Heely shoes (shoes with wheels) are not allowed on campus.

Inclement Weather

APS will help keep students safe during winter weather with the Parent Link System, notifying parents and guardians by automatic phone messages with details on delays or closures.  Numerous radio stations and all current news stations post as early as 5:30 a.m. about school delays and closures.  Also the APS website (www.aps.edu) provides notifications and other valuable information.
