About McCollum

We are an elementary school encompassing preschool through 5th grade.

Along with our general education classrooms we are a district hub for intensive special programs, autism, and preschool.
Our enrollment size is about 390 students.

McCollum elementary school is a diverse learning community that strives for academic and social excellence.

Our Mission
We use research-based instruction to educate our school community through the integration of academic and social growth.  We set high expectations for success while fostering a sense of security, individual responsibility, and belonging for all.

Inclusion of students with special needs is a vital part of our program.  We sincerely believe that children benefit from interacting with children who have different levels of social, language, academic skills.

Physical Education

PE is provided for all students. Students with disabilities will receive Adaptive PE services as identified in their Individual Educational Plan.

The Love of Reading Week, Poetry Week, Battle of the Books, and other literacy activities are produced and supported via our librarian and library.

Computer Lab

We are fortunate to have an up-to-date, high-end computer lab that all students are able to visit once a week with their class.

Students have the opportunity to learn about artistic genres and create a variety of projects during their art time every week.

Monthly Newsletters

Each teacher will send home a newsletter once a month.  Newsletters may also include homework tips, goals, and areas of focus that the teacher will be targeting.

Instructional Council

The instructional council monitors the quality and improvement of instruction at McCollum, and all aspects of school life that might affect that instruction. The members are made up of teachers, PTA, educational assistants, parents, and other role groups at school.
